Crescent Partner Highlight

On shared digital ownership

The marketplace of NFTs and digital tokens are seen as individual purchasable assets. However, the up-and-coming startup Koop, founded by USC students Natalia Murillo and Conner Chyung, is hoping to make that process a shared experience.

Instead of having one person own an NFT, Koop would enable collective buying and use of NFTs — friends can pool money to purchase NFTs and have shared ownership. Beyond NFTs, Koop is looking to expand to digital tokens and toolings for DAOs.

This week, Crescent partner Cam Glynn gives a rundown of Koop and its place in Web3 communities moving forward.

The Southern Californian Tech Landscape

  • Sydney-based company LinkTree reaches unicorn status with a valuation of $1.3 billion after raising $110 million, just one year after opening their very first office in Los Angeles. LinkTree plans to continue growing its roots in SoCal by expanding its LA team.

  • Santa Barbara has proven itself to be the rising hub for cybersecurity, with two Santa Barbara based startups —Theta Lake and MixMode— reaching Series B funding rounds after raising respectively $50 million and $45 million.

  • Bored Ape NFT’s are entering the music industry! WME, a Los Angeles based talent agency just signed a duo of two apes from the Bored Ape Yacht Club under the names of “ETHan and zeETH.” The apes have already dropped their first single titled “Jungle” and have plans to drop more music and host live performances in the near future.
